Skyla or Mirena?

Hey all! 25, NP. I decided to get my Mirena five years ago with the help of this community, so I figured it was a good place to turn when I had another decision to make. I got my Mirena out a little over a month ago because it had been 5 years and because I had some stuff going on and I wasn't sure if it was the Mirena or just stress. Turns out, med school >> IUD for causing anxiety and migraines - who'd'a thunk? On the whole, I really loved my Mirena and highly recommend it.

So now I have an appointment to get the Skyla IUD, but I'm conflicted. My pros and cons of each:

Skyla pros:
- smaller (when I had the Mirena, sex hurt with deeper penetration and just didn't feel as good as without it in certain positions; I also spotted for about 8 weeks post-insertion and had some pretty significant cramping on and off for the first 6+ mos, esp if I really had to pee/etc.)
- fewer hormones (never had backne before the Mirena, which went away as soon as it came out; my pre-period breakouts were also a bit worse, but still mild; I'm sensitive to hormones and was a bit nuts for the first 2 weeks after insertion)

Skyla cons:
- only lasts 3 years
- won't stop my periods (the Mirena only stopped mine intermittently but decreased the bleeding by quite a bit - my Diva cup has been giving me BV/yeast, which I am incredibly sad about, so the less I have to wear obnoxious pads the better; that said, they're still not that heavy without it)

Mirena pros: 5 years!!, more hormones (better for periods)
Mirena cons: bigger (but by so little I'm not sure if it matters), more hormones (worse for back zits)

I guess I'm mostly trying to figure out if the smaller size will change the sex thing and the adjustment period pain/bleeding enough that it's worth possibly getting a new one in 3 years. Insurance fully covers either one this time, so that's not an issue.

I'd love to hear what people think, especially if you've had the Skyla (I think someone commented that they'd had both, actually, and could compare?).

Thanks in advance! Love this community.
