Skyla Experience/Question

Hi everyone,

I'm new to IUD Diva, though I've been following the journal for a couple of months now, ever since I decided to get an IUD back in September. It's been incredibly helpful! I got the Skyla inserted on September 13th (and so I would be more than happy to share my experiences with anyone interested--since it's fairly new, there doesn't seem to be a lot out there on this specific one, which has been a bit frustrating for me). At any rate, I've been pleased with Skyla so far...I've spotted basically every day since insertion, but only a little bit (nothing to really interfere with my sex life/life in general), and there's been no pain. Over the past few weeks, however, I've noticed something FAR more distressing than spotting--my hair seems to be thinner. Now, I've always had thin hair, but it's getting to the point where I can't wear my hair down anymore because the part in the back is so wide that you can see a part of my scalp. Not really a bald spot, just a wide part. It might be a result of iron deficiency anemia (not sure if that's related to spotting for 2 months straight or poor diet...I started taking biotin, fish oil, and a multivitamin last week), it might be genetic, or it might be Skyla (which lists "hair loss" as a less common symptom). Or it could be all three...the worst trifecta ever. I was just interested to hear what others thought about this, or if anyone has had a similar experience, with either Skyla or Mirena. I think I'll probably make an appointment with my doctor to get some blood work done, to see if it's anemia or thyroid related. It's distressing, as you can imagine--I'm only 30, have never had kids (so wouldn't be post-pregnancy related hair loss), and am otherwise healthy!

Irregular periods with Skyla...

Hello Ladies,

I have had Skyla for about 5 months. Over the past 2 months I have been experiencing irregularities with ny cycle. It has been coming later and later. It is also so light sometimes that I'm not sure if it would be deemed a period. The first 2 months I had light bleeding for 9 days, both months.
Is anyone else experiencing this? My gyno specifically told me that Skyla didnt stop the cycle like Mirena can do sometimes.

As a side note, I had first tried to get Mirena but the gyno was unable to insert it because of the small pathway I had. Even to get the Skyla I had to be slightly dilated. This was my gyno`s second experience with Mirena being too big, he said it was very uncommon and he had never had the experience with Skyla. I'm not sure why it was so difficult, but it was quite painful for me.
Has anyone else had this experience?
