I went to a doctor a week ago to set up an appointment to get an IUD. I want paragard but I have a nickel allergy and she didn't know if it contained nickel or not. Anyone here know? She's going to call the company and ask them. She told me to schedule the appointment while I had my period and I asked her if there were any rules about having sex beforehand and she told me no. Then I went to the receptionist to schedule it and she gave me a sheet that says no sex two weeks before. So I'm a little confused. What is the reasoning behind the no sex? Is it so there's no chance of pregnancy? If so then if I go when I'm on my period and I have a pregnancy test is it okay to have sex? Or is it because it could actually mess with the insertion? I'm thinking about calling her and asking but I just thought I'd ask you to see if you know. I can wait the two weeks but does that include all kinds of sex? Or just PIV?
