ParaGard insertion SUCCESS!!

Hey everyone!
First of all I want to thank you all for support, this is the only place I have been able to find success stories to ease my nerves about FINALLY getting my IUD. Well guess what, I got it today! It's been in place for about 2.5 hours.
I wanted to share my success story because as we are all well aware there are truly not enough out there.
I went to my appointment at 9am and I was quite nervous, I took the Cytotec the night before and loads of ibuprofen because I am kind of a wuss when it comes to cramping pain.
Now comes the fun part, it was over before I even knew it! My doctor was very kind and told me everything she was doing (she is my usual OBGYN and I really like her). Anyhow, there was a pinch and light cramping, nothing painful, just something one usually doesn't feel so it's odd- but really not anything to be frightened by. My doc advised me to lay down for a little bit because some women are prone to feeling faint afterwards, I on the other had didn't experience that but, I did stay seated for about 5 minutes.
I was in and out of the office in under 20 minutes. I drove home and took a shower, more ibuprofen, and a short nap. I feel GREAT! I have experienced just very light cramps, nothing worse than the insertion cramp (which I will reiterate was NOT BAD AT ALL). I haven't had any spotting and I think I will be all ready to return to work tonight!
So for everyone out there scared to get the IUD don't be worried at all!!! It's a piece of cake and the feeling you get afterwards when you are in control of your body is empowering.

Oh yes, and for some background, I am 21, never been pregnant, and I've been on birth control pills for about a year and stopped taking them because I couldn't stand the way the hormones made me feel. I'm in a monogamous relationship with my boyfriend (and have been for 3 years now) and he has been very supportive along they way.
I wish everyone the best of luck and I will post in 6 weeks after my follow up appointment!

Spotting after 1 year... blame it on Paragard?

I had a Paragard inserted about a year ago. I've had very heavy periods since then. There are times when I soak through overnight pads in a couple of hours. Those times are getting shorter (less than a day, as opposed to a few days) but are still there. On this most recent cycle I started spotting. I've never spotted in my life. I've been spotting 3 or 4 days per week since my last period and my next period is due in about a week.

I have talked to the doctor at Planned Parenthood a couple of times about the heavy bleeding, she acted like it was normal and advised me to take ibuprofen. I haven't asked about the spotting as it just started. Is this normal? Do you think it's related to the IUD?
