Itchy, splintery cramps?

So I've had Paragard for about 5 months now, and the cramps are still bad (as to be expected); I manage through them just fine, even if I have to writhe around, and grab onto my boyfriend to deal with the pain. I'm pretty good at keeping away from Ibuprofen  except on the first day of my period. I've been enjoying the carefree aspect of it, and I still get my monthly period so I'm not paranoid about being pregnant, unlike the sporadic change in my cycle with the pill. I love it a lot, aside from the cramps! The cramps come in short bursts whenever they feel like showing up. :P

However, I have this splintery/ poking feeling on my cervix, during my period, and I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same feeling. It's only around when I'm on my period so I'm not too worried. I'm assuming it's my uterus contracting around the IUD and pushing it against my cervix, or maybe even the strings letting me know they're there. It's almost an itchy feeling, and it's not painful, just slightly annoying.

Aside from that, I'm loving my Paragard! Although, I'm still getting used to the hormonal roller coaster I go through on my period! I've never been very emotional, even when hormones are rushing threw me, but since I got the paragard I've been crying every period! Seesh! Being a woman sure is tough sometimes. :]

I hope everyone is doing well with their IUD's!

Mirena Insertion Experience!

Howdy all! I just wanted to write about my insertion experience, since I haven't seen anything in previous posts that was similar to it.  I'm a 28 year old nulliparous female, with no intention of children in the future.  I got my Mirena inserted just about 1.5 months ago, and it's been a bumpy road (in regards to cramps), but overall I'm over the moon regarding it!

So there you have it - my IUD experience.  While this is just my re-telling of my story, it's mostly to say "hey my insertion was like going to hell and back, but I'm doing darn well now".  Not meant to be a scare story, as I highly doubt many of you have abnormally long cervixes.  To be fair, I'm kind of hoping my crazy long cervix is the thing keeping my IUD in even when I have intense cramps and my body is trying to evict the offending tenant.

However, I would like to ask other members who have a Mirena: What was your experience regarding menses/spotting?  I came off of a year of OTC Lo and unreliable periods as a result, so that could be influencing me, but I want to know what others have gone through, most notably, are you spotting all the freaking time now?  It's the only really irritating post-insertion thing I'm experiencing.  I may have to go to Costco and buy bulk pantiliners.  No one wants to have to do that, dammit.
