anxious Hello!! I know there a probably multiple threads on this IUD, but I am getting it inserted in a few days and I am VERY nervous. I have been on multiple BC for about 13 years. I recently got migraines and hypertension on Yaz, so they completely took me off anything hormonal. I have Crohns disease, which is an auto-immune disorder. This disease puts me at higher risk for DVTs and strokes. So anything hormonal is a big no-no right now!! My GYN suggested the copper IUD. I do work as a nurse and go to school, so she stated it would fit my busy lifestyle. I have a few questions...
1. My period is incredibly irregular, so we can't really wait 4-6months to get it inserted (since I should not be pregnant with the immunosupressants) So my GYN is inserting it without me being on my period. Any experience with this? I know most patients are menstruating during insertion as the cervix is slightly dialated.
2. I am NP, can someone please share your experience? I am quite nervous due to my cervix never being dialated :( Sorry if this is a run-on from multiple threads!!
