hey everyone!

I was searching through tags and older posts, I found a few posts that mentioned exercise and bleeding/cramping, but not longer term mirena users. I've had mirena since March 2009...so like going on 18 months.

All was well, but THIS month for some reason, I had a REALLY long period of bleeding, lots of cramping...the cramps were so bad, I would be in the bathroom stall at work checking my strings because I was sure it was spontaneously expelling it was hurting so bad. (it wasn't)
But anyway, my period went from the usual 5 days to 12 days this month...and then it finally stopped last weekend. I have been slowly starting to exercise more, and maybe this is what's aggravating my uterus?

Monday I jogged for 30 minutes, SLOW, and then walked for 20 to stretch out my muscles...Tuesday I was spotting and cramping. Wednesday I jogged again, same timing, Thursday I was spotting...Friday spotting all day, I went jogging anyway, and today I haven't done any exercise besides sex (haha) and I'm spotting WORSE now...and also cramping again. I also noticed though, that this week would technically be ovulation week for me, and maybe that's where the cramping was from originally on Monday/Tuesday...but I just don't know what's going on.

Anyone hear of exercise making you bleed when you really shouldn't be bleeding? I am pretty active, but maybe jogging is aggravating to the iud/uterus combo...I normally walk/hike/bike/inline skate, and maybe its the high impact stuff its not happy with... any thoughts??

Thanks for reading! Appreciate your help!

Exercise makes me bleed too. I've only had Mirena since July, but it happened all the time when I was on the pill. Sorry I can't be of any more help, but I haven't been able to figure out the whole exercise making me bleed thing either. I occasionally spot after sex as well, so I'm beginning to think I just have a sensitive uterus. I hope you figure it out and feel better :/

Thanks for the reply. It helps just knowing I'm not the only one. Like I said, I just find it odd since I've had it for so long, soo if I happen to jog while ovulating I'll bleed?? Sounds kind of weird.
I would have expected this if I was still doing the settling in period, but I've been beyond that with no issues for the longest time. Oh I should mention, while at my yearly exam I asked about the severe cramping in ovulation, and they checked the IUD placement by ultrasound that very day, and it was normal. So I think I just have a grouchy uterus/cervix...

So I got a Paragard two days ago, and have had some mild cramping and light spotting. I went to zumba today (I usually go four or five times a week) and got about half-way through class and then thought...OMG...that little sucker's gonna pop right out! (We were doing hip shimmies/rolls.) I stopped, walked around on the track for a while, checked things out -- no IUD emerging from my cervix, strings in place, no blood. Just hella cramps. Thoughts?

If this thing prevents me from exercising, it's gone. Period. End of story. I'm fat and depressed and exercise is the one thing that keeps me from being an absolute bitch to everyone. I mean, more than I usually am.
